Dr. Chang has extensive training and experience treating patients with craniofacial anomalies ranging from cleft lip and palate to a variety craniofacial syndromes or facial trauma.  Dr. Chang served  as a program director of the Orthodontic Fellowship Program in Surgical Orthodontics, Cleft/ Craniofacial Anomalies, and Special Care Orthodontics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.  He is also a consulting orthodontist for the cleft craniofacial team at Kaiser Permanente.  Dr. Chang also lectures nationally and internationally in the topics of oral clefts and craniofacial anomalies.

The orthodontist not only diagnoses and delivers treatment but also coordinates (and determine treatment timing) both orthodontic and surgical care.  Dr. Chang has an extensive experience in providing early treatments to guide jaws growth and dental development.  Orthodontic care is required both before and after most surgical procedures associated with craniofacial anomalies.  Excellent communication and coordination with the craniofacial and oral-maxillofacial surgeons are essential to obtain optimal treatment results.  Dr. Chang works with a network of other healthcare professionals with experience in the field of cleft and craniofacial treatment.  Dr. Chang also specializes in a treatment technic called “ Nasoalveolar Molding” that will help guide the upper  jaw growth, lip and nose in cleft patients

  • -Jaw Anomalies (including Maxillary Hypoplasia, Micrognathia, Mandibular Hyperplasia, Facial Asymmetry)
